Gallas Not Guilty

Gallas is not guilty of assault,
I'd argue that it wasn't his fault,
the challenge wasn't late or high
so it's something of a lie
what Owen Coyle is saying -
especially as Bolton are know for playing
with much more force than skill.

Clearly not intended, still,
an 'assault' is what it's branded,
Coyle you've been caught red-handed
stepping way out of line
seeing as Mark Davies is fine.

Thank God the F.A see sense,
we face no dire consequence.

And we're top of the league.

Owen Coyle's 'assault' claim is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard from a manager for a while. It was a 50-50 challenge in which Mark Davies was unfortunate to get the worst of it. There was obviously nothing intentional in it on William Gallas' part - he didn't come in late, high or sliding. In fact he pretty much put his foot exactly where the ball had been not half a second before the alleged assault.

If Gallas' challenge (which was a t the very worst, clumsy) angers Coyle so much what must he have thought of that Bolton player who stood on Fabregas' neck last weekend?

Editor's note :
heat of the battle comments!

After 2 days, this was announced :

Bolton manager Owen Coyle has retracted his comments that Arsenal's William Gallas should have been sent off for his tackle on Mark Davies.

The incident in the build-up to Arsenal's second goal in Wednesday's 4-2 win at the Emirates left Davies with suspected ankle damage.

"Having looked at it I don't think William Gallas purposely went to hurt Mark Davies," admitted Coyle.

"I think it was badly timed, simple as that but we have to move on."
