The Football Poetry Competition
"Racism and Football"

The following people have been nominated as winners in the Kick It Out and Black History Month Competitions.

Not all the names of the people below will feature on this website as some are non-football Black History pieces and some footie ones have been put up anonymously by choice, although the authors are known to us.

Overall winner for the commissioned poster was Simon Williams.

Rules:
All poems mst be on the subject of "football and racism" - our interpretation is flexible and our normal editorial criteria apply. Remember children will be reading these poems so keep the language appropriate please.

Categories:
There are two categories; "schools" for children to enter work done at school or youth club and "open" for anyone else regardless of age, race or gender.

Prizes - prizes prizes:
There will be prizes of "Kick It Out" T-shirts, book tokens & badges for each category. The best overall poem by a school child will be produced as a traditionally handset commemorative poster.

How to enter:
Entry is free and can be by PAGE, STAGE or INTERNET - all entries must arrive by 31st October at the latest. Judges will be made up of a panel consisting of the Stroud
Football Poets, LEA Officers and teachers.

STAGE: If you would like to perform your piece then you can be given
microphone technique training ready for public performance at the Black
History Celebration on Thursday 24th October
