Football Poets tribute to Euro 2000
A great tournament with many magic moments - and what's more the best side won.
Enjoy the poems and if you feel inspired to pen a retrospective
on the tournament we'll be delighted to put it on this page.
A good a place to start is Stuart's poem which sums up what many of us thought in the end...
Why I loved Euro 2000
...Finally,
because France’s triumph Was a triumph for beautiful football, And
because it really did bring people together, Simultaneously all across
the world, And because it made us all more aware Of what binds
us, Rather than what divides; It isolated the racists and
xenophobes, And it was, In the end, Quite simply, Without
cynicism, Quite simply, Football without Frontiers, The Beautiful
Game.
