FOOTBALL POETRY BOOKS

Football: Pure Poetry
(for the fan who wants everything)
Selected and Edited by Ted Smith-Orr.
The poems in this book have been written by fans of football and poetry who enjoy a good kick about with a ball or words. Their writing styles are as varied as footballers' styles: some are eloquent and free, others more dogged and uncompromising, while others flow with rhyme and rhythm akin to a forward jinking past the opposition and gliding the ball away into the corner of the net.
Featuring: Ian McMillian, Roger McGough, Brian Patten, Carolyn King, Neil Rollinson, John McGilvray, Graham Shaw and a whole host more.
Copies of the book can be obtained for £5.99 + £0.50 p&p from:
Creative Energy Publications,
365 Holmesdale Road,
London, SE25 6PN.
Also available through online booksellers - ISBN 0 9534296 2 8.

Final Words
from Verbs and Words

One year in the life of the Stroud Valleys
and the Stroud Football Poets.
Editors: Helena Petre and Helen Street.

Verbs and Words is a poetry and prose project originated by Stuart Butler of the Stroud Football Poets. Its aim is to encourage writers - both covert and overt - and performers from the Stroud Valleys to give a glimpse of significant events, thoughts, and inspirations in their lives throughout the course of one year.
Monthly volumes of diverse poetry and prose from a vast array of Stroud Valleys writers were published in pamphlet form, and distributed free of charge at poetry events, local cafes and book shops.
This is the final selection of words picked from the pamphlets and contains six sections: Stroud, football, summer holidays, people, history and politics.
Thanks to the Arts Council for funding and supporting the project. Copies priced £3.50 + £0.50 p&p can be obtained from:
