Is the F.A. Barking Mad?
Basil
   Basil wrote to the F.A.

"Dear Mr. Crozier,
I wish to apply for the post of England Team Manager. Although I am a dog, I have a wealth of football experience behind me; indeed I sponsor a whole team of football poets. I enclose a photograph.
Yours sincerely, Basil the Westie"
Read the official F.A. reply.

Basil has been getting a lot of  media attention and continues to show the qualities required of a future England manager.

Please leave any thoughts on the Basil situation in our guest book. where you'll also find Basil's diary and be able to keep track of how he's coping with fame like the fantastic tribute below...

Tweetie Responds - (on tour in San Francisco)

I've decided to start my own diary
Even though basil's gone first
It might help to keep down his ego
It might help if written in verse -

For i'm starting to fear for his safety
Like posh spice and beckham he's tied -
The fans and the press and the endless int'rest
The poor dog cannot venture outside

And i think he should get back to poetry
He's a show off let's face it-we know it
There's enough shaggy dog stories out there
What this site needs is more FOOTBALL poets

Basil's Anthem

He comes from the land of mountains
He comes from the land of tweed
He is a higher form of life
Than a turnip or a swede

And yet he is neglected
He howls both night and day
For he has been rejected
By Adam Croziers sweet F.A.

So let us join together
With power and strength our creed
And make this highland terrior
Our manager, not a Swede

So Basil for our coach we say
We'll never lose again
We'll win and not just qualify
Get Basil in - out Sven
